In addition to its usual store fundraising activities, Circle K Sunkus carries out emergency fundraising activities at stores in response to major natural disasters caused by large earthquakes, abnormal weather and other events.
Circle K Sunkus believes that convenience stores are part of a vital "lifeline" infrastructure for local communities. Accordingly, the Company rapidly implements emergency relief activities for these communities in areas affected by disasters. This includes not only keeping local stores open in times of emergency, but also providing the emergency relief supplies of drinking water and food (rice balls/bread) and financial assistance that are essential in the event of a major disaster.
JIn addition to providing quality products and services to customers at its convenience stores, Circle K Sunkus conducts voluntary Safety Station activities in partnership with national, regional and local governments as part of efforts to fulfill its corporate social responsibilities. These activities are based on two themesムhelping to build safe and secure neighborhoods and creating environments conducive to the sound development of youth. The former involves reporting emergencies to police and fire fighting authorities and safeguarding women and children seeking protection in stores, while the latter involves observing rules prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco to minors. Safety Station activities are conducted by the Japan Franchise Association's 12 member companies representing 22 convenience store chains.
Circle K Sunkus conducts nationwide clean-up campaigns twice a year in spring and fall, with voluntary employee participation. These campaigns are seen as an opportunity for Circle K Sunkus to raise public awareness of its environm ental activities and to become more conscious of its own role as a member of local communities.
